History

FamilyConnect, Inc. was founded in 1997 by two Oral Roberts University alumni as a filtered Internet Service Provider (ISP) which provided nationwide dial up access bundled with content filtering. A few years later S4F, Inc. was created as a company for private branding of its filtering product called the FilterPak. S4F is an acronym that stands for “Server Side Sub System Filter”, which is a description of how the FilterPak works.

The FilterPak product was custom-built and released as FamilyConnect 5.0 in 1999.   This software was a revolutionary concept in filtering, as it did not rely on large downloaded databases or slow Internet proxies.  Still today, the FilterPak 7.7  product continues to earn high ratings as one of the best filtering solution for families.
