Centipede Firewall Basic Installation
Basic installation support for the Centipede Firewall will soon be provided free of charge. Until that time, a short guide is provided here.
Centipede Firewall 1.2-RC3 Quick Installation Guide
This process will install the Centipede Firewall onto the hard drive of a standard x86 system and perform the base network configuration enabling the system administrator to connect to the WebGUI and WebConfigurator for advanced configuration.
- Insert the Centipede Firewall 1.2-RC3 CD into the CD drive tray of the system.
- Boot the system. The Centipede Firewall splash screen will display; press the space bar to watch the boot progress.
- If VLAN support is required, configure VLANs.
- Assign physical network interfaces to Centipede Firewall interfaces. By default, only a WAN (external) interface and LAN (internal) interface are required, although up to 34 optional (OPT) interfaces are supported.
- Select from Basic Installation, Advanced Installation or LiveCD operation. Basic Installation* will choose system defaults and install without any input from the system administrator. Advanced Installation allows the administrator to control many aspects of the Centipede Firewall installation. Live CD operation will not install to the hard drive and will run the Centipede Firewall entirely off of the CD. WARNING: The installation routine will delete ALL data on the hard drive.
- After installation, the Centipede Firewall will reboot. Upon reboot, use a web browser to connect to the WebGUI at http://192.168.1.1/. The default username is: admin, the password: centipede
* If, during basic installation, the installer seems to hang, press the space bar, and if an error is presented about an SMP kernel not existing, simply use the arrow keys to select "Skip". This is a harmless error and may be safely ignored.
